Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a theory that posits that human beings have a hierarchy of needs that must be satisfied in order for them to reach their full potential. The pyramid represents the hierarchy of needs from the bottom to the top. The need at the bottom is for physiological needs, such as food and water. Once these are met, humans then move up to safety, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization at the top. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a theory of psychology. It describes how human beings need to fulfill certain basic needs before they can progress to higher level needs.
