- Open Canva and choose the design you want to work with. Log in to your Canva account and pick a template or start with a blank design. Selecting the correct format at the beginning — presentation, document, social media post, or any other layout — makes the editing process smoother.
- Go to the left-hand menu and open the “Text” panel. You’ll find it in the main toolbar on the left. This section gives you access to pre-built text elements like a heading, subheading, or body text. It’s the main tool for adding any type of text to your design.
- Select a text element and insert it into your design. Click “Heading,” “Subheading,” or “Body text,” and the chosen block will instantly appear on your canvas. Large blocks are ideal for titles, medium ones for key accents, and body text for longer descriptions or detailed content.
- Edit the text block to match your style. Double-click the text, type your content, and adjust the formatting: font, size, color, alignment, spacing, and more. You can also apply text effects or background colors if you need higher readability or visual emphasis.
- Move and position the text block where you need it. Drag the element across the canvas to place it exactly where it fits best. Canva will show alignment guides that help you center the text or align it with other elements, keeping your layout clean and balanced.
- Duplicate or group text elements if needed. Use shortcuts like Cmd/Ctrl + D to quickly duplicate styled text blocks. Grouping several elements allows you to move them together and maintain consistent layouts across multiple pages.
- Save or download your finished design in the desired format. Click “Share” → “Download” and choose the output you need — JPG, PNG, or PDF. Before exporting, double-check the readability, spacing, and overall composition, especially if the design will be printed or shown in presentations.
