- Open your Canva project where you want to add transitions. Go to your Canva dashboard and open the design or video file. Transitions work in presentations, multi-page designs, and video timelines.
- Select the page or clip that should have a transition. Click on the page thumbnail (for presentations) or on the video clip (for video editing). Canva needs to know exactly where you want the transition to appear.
- Click the “+” icon between pages or clips to access transitions. For presentations, the transition button appears between page thumbnails. For videos, the icon shows up on the timeline between two clips.
- Choose a transition style from the available options. Canva offers effects like Fade, Slide, Wipe, Match & Move, and others. Hover over each option to preview how it looks before applying it.
- Adjust the transition duration for smoother playback. Use the duration slider to control how quickly the transition plays. Short transitions feel sharp and dynamic, while longer ones look softer and cinematic.
- Customize direction or motion if the effect supports it. Some transitions let you choose the direction (left, right, up, down) or movement style. This helps match the visual flow of your design or video.
- Apply the transition to all pages or clips if you want a consistent style. If you’re working on a presentation or a long video, use the “Apply to all pages/clips” option to save time and keep the design uniform.
- Preview your project to make sure everything plays smoothly. Use the Play/Preview button to watch the entire sequence. Check pacing, rhythm, and overall flow, especially if you mix different transition types.
- Save or export your design with transitions applied. When everything looks right, download your presentation or export your video. Canva automatically keeps transitions in your final file.
