- Open your design in Canva. Start by opening the multi-page document, presentation, or workbook where you want to add automatic page numbering. The new Page Numbers feature works on all multi-page layouts.
- Insert the dynamic Page Number element. In the left toolbar, go to Text and scroll to the Dynamic text section. Click Page numbers — this automatically places a live page number field on the currently selected page.
- Choose your page number format. After placing the element, a panel opens on the right. Under Format, select how your page numbers will look: Numbers only (e.g., 1, 2, 3), Page + number (e.g., Page 1), Page X of Y (e.g., Page 1 of 10). The preview updates instantly.
- Select which pages should show numbers. Under Show numbers on, choose where page numbers appear—on all pages, selected pages, or a custom range. This is helpful if you want to skip numbering on the cover page or intro sections.
- Adjust the appearance and position of the number. While the Page Numbers panel is still open, customize the text: change the font, size, alignment, color, and placement. You can drag the element to any corner or center area, depending on your layout style.
- Apply the same appearance to every page. When your formatting is ready, click Apply properties to all pages. Canva will automatically update every page number to match the style and position of the one you edited.
- Review your document to make sure numbering looks correct. Scroll through the pages to confirm that the sequence is accurate and that the design remains consistent. If needed, adjust the position or formatting—Canva updates everything automatically.
- Download or share your design with numbering applied. Click Share → Download and export your document in PDF or another preferred format. Your dynamic page numbers will be included in the final file exactly as displayed.
